How do you charge for your services?
For our ongoing financial planning services, we charge an “assets under management” fee, using a tiered schedule.
For our one-time plan services, we charge our fee as an invoice, with half being collected up front, and the other half being collected after the completion of the one-time plan services.
How do I know I'll be getting impartial advice?
As fiduciaries, we have a duty of loyalty and duty of care which means we are legally bound to put the interests of our clients first and to provide sound and prudent advice to our clients. As we are fee-only, we are not incentivized by product sales and only receive payment from our clients.
Will Sage Wealth Planning try to outperform benchmarks?
We care deeply about your investments growing efficiently. However, we believe that markets are mostly efficient, and that it is a better use of time and resources to find investment “alpha” through strategic planning rather than actively trading positions with the sole goal of outperforming the market.
Who does Sage Wealth Planning do their best work with?
Typically, the people who value our services the most are those who value advice, strategy, and a helpful hand in executing on the many financial tasks needed to keep one's financial life running smoothly. If this isn't you, don't worry! We will recommend other vetted financial professionals who will better suit your needs.
Can you help me with assets that you don't manage?
Yes, for many of our clients, assets that we don't manage are their largest assets. Think 401K's, stock options, employee benefits, and private investments/businesses. We look at your entire financial picture to give you the best advice on all of your investments, regardless of where they are held.
How do you choose my investments?
First, we learn about your goals, priorities, and values. Investments are fuel for the life you want to live! We typically like to keep investment expenses low and place the right investments in the right type of account. We make sure every dollar that is invested has a purpose. The above strategies help determine an “asset allocation” that will guide your investments.
Will I have online access to my account?
Yes! We use a tool called eMoney to share data and financial planning details with you. In addition, if you have assets invested with the Sage team, you will have access to your investment accounts through a Charles Schwab login.
